The kinetochore is a large protein complex that assembles on centromeres. The complex enables physical connections between replicated chromosomes and the dynamic ends of spindle microtubules and facilitates the movement and alignment of chromosomes in concert with microtubule polymerization and depolymerization.

Comment

The SUGT1-encoded protein is a component of the kinetochore complex. It is a multi-function protein with roles in kinetochore assembly, lncRNA and protein-folding chaperone binding and regulation of protein stability.
