GSK-3 negatively regulates several aspects of insulin signalling, and upregulated GSK-3 activity may be involved in the development of insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes [4,7] and in neurodegenerative disease [2,6,8]. GSK-3 inhibitors have therefore become the focus of intense drug discovery efforts.
TWS119 is reported to be involved in the induction of mammalian neurogenesis in embryonic stem cells in vitro, via inhibition of GSK-3β [3].
