Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects Click here for help
R55 is an investigational compound which is reported to act as a pharmacological chaperone. This action appears to enhance the stability and function the neuronal retromer (a protein complex which transports APP away from the endosome; a site of APP cleavage to Aβ), and in cultured hippocampal neurons reduces Aβ levels [1]. This compound represents a novel mechanism for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease (AD).
