Summary of Clinical Use Click here for help
Despite progressing to Phase 3 clinical evaluation for tocolytic potential in women who have gone in to spontaneous preterm labour, the retosiban programme has been terminated by GSK. Phase 2 clinical trial results have been published [5-6]. These results indicated that retosiban has a favourable safety and tolerability profile, and can prolong pregnancies in women with preterm labour.
Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects Click here for help
Oxytocin acts via the oxytocin receptor to induce uterine contractions during parturition [2]. Oxytocin antagonists are used to suppress contractions in pre-term labour (tocolytic activity) [1]..
