Immunopharmacology Comments
The IL-1α precursor can bind and activate its receptor. It is pro-inflammatory. An anti-IL-1α antibody called MABp1 (bermekimab, trade name Xilonix) was developed by XBiotech as an anticancer therapeutic [1]. However, a Phase 3 study in colorectal cancer patients (NCT01767857) was terminated due to a lack of efficacy.
