Immunopharmacology Comments
Lipoxin B4 (LXB4) promotes resolution of inflammation. It is produced by mucosal tissues. In the lung its activity decreases allergic and asthmatic inflammatory responses [4]. In the adaptive immune system, Kim et al. (2018) have demonstrated that LXB4 induces increased COX-2 expression which in turn elevates memory B cell numbers and their production of IgG antibodies [5]. The authors conclude that LXB4 could therefore be utilised as a vaccine adjuvant.
