The pharmacological activity of oxcarbazepine is thought to be associated with its 10-monohydroxy metabolite (MHD), which acts as a sodium channel inhibitor. This blocks initiation and conductance of nerve impulses. The genes and proteins SNC1A-SNC11A are listed in this database in the voltage-gated sodium channels section.
