Compound class: Synthetic organic
Comment: Telatinib (BAY-579352) is an orally available VEGFR2/3 and PDGFRβ receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor that exhibits potent anti-angiogenic activity which translates to anti-tumour efficacy in vitro and in vivo. The chemical structure of telatinib is claimed in Bayer's patent WO2001023375A2 (as example 14) [1].

Bioactivity Comments
Telatinib is not directly active against tumour cells, but is antiproliferative vs. HUVEC cells in vitro, which indicates a purely antiangiogenic mechanism of action. A J Med Chem article by Musumeci et al. provides IC50 values for telatinib vs. VEGFR2 and VEGFR3 (6 and 4 nM respectively) but the source of these values is unclear [5]. The VEGFR2 IC50 of 6 nM in Lee et al. (2010) was estimated in a virtual screening study, and was not validated in an in vitro follow-up experiment [3]. As an alternative we provide an IC50 from Bayer's patent.
