Clinically drostanolone may be used to treat postmenopausal women with recurrent breast cancer, as part of a combined hormone therapy, but exposes patients to a high risk of virilization. Alternative treatments are generally used. This drug does not appear to be approved for use by the US FDA or the European Medicines Agency. Note that the DrugBank record for this drug relates to drostanolone, not dromostanolone propionate.
