| Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects |
| Oprelvekin binds to the interleukin 11 receptor inducing thrombopoietic events including proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells and megakaryocyte progenitor cells and induction of megakaryocyte maturation, which culminate in increased platelet production. |
