Testolactone inhibits the production of estrogen by inhibiting the aromatase enzyme (aka cytochrome P450 19A1 or CYP19A1) which is essential for the conversion of androstenedione to estrone. Drug treatment helps prevent the growth of breast cancers that are activated by estrogen.
