This drug's molecular mechanism of action (MMOA) may involve inhibition of voltage-dependent T-type calcium channels. CACNA1E, CACNA1H and CACNA1I alpha subunits are detailed in this database, in the Voltage-gated calcium channels section. Blocking these channels is believed to prevent the hypersynchronisation of neuronal firing which underlies seizure generation. See the DrugBank link for further details.
