The drug's main effects are antagonism of the receptors for the monoamine neurotransmitters dopamine, serotonin, epinephrine/norepinephrine and acetylcholine receptors. Trimipramine is a weak inhibitor of the norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine transporters (NET, SLC6A2; SET, SLC6A4; and DAT, SCL6A3 respectively). See the DrugBank link for further details.
