The EMA and FDA have granted talampanel orphan drug designation for the treatment of the rare diseases amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and glioma. Phase 2 clinical trials assessing talampanel for ALS, glioma, epilepsy and Parkinson's disease have been completed, but development has not been progressed further.
