| Dendroaspis natriuretic peptide, a snake venom ligand, shares structural similarity to the other known natriuretic peptides, atrial, brain, and C-type natriuretic peptides, in that they all have a 17 amino acid ring structure created by a single disulphide bond [1]. It is natriuretic and diuretic and is a potent activator of cGMP. It causes vasodilation, with beneficial cardiovascular and renal properties in vivo [2]. |
