Pentraxins

The penrtaxin (a.k.a. pentaxin) family of proteins includes C reactive protein (CRP) [4], serum amyloid P component protein (SAP) and female protein (FP; a hamster homologue of SAP) [1], all of which are involved in acute immunological responses [2-3]. This family of proteins is characterised structurally by a discoid arrangement of five noncovalently bound subunits.
