Delamanid is indicated for the treatment of pulmonary MDR-TB and is administered in conjunction with other tuberculosis medicines. It is on the World Health Organization's Model List of Essential Medicines and was given conditional authorisation by the EMA in 2014.

Delamanid inhibits the biosynthesis of mycolic acid, an essential component of the cell wall of M. tuberculosis (IC50 of 0.021-0.036 μg/ml) [1].
