Summary of Clinical Use Click here for help
Clofoctol is well absorbed after oral or rectal administration and accumulates in lung tissue, which may explain its efficacy in bacterial respiratory infections [1]. It was marketed in France (under the trade name Octofene®) between 1978 and 2005. A rectal formulation (Gramplus®) is still in clinical use in Italy to treat bacterial infections of the upper respiratort tract and to prevent infection following ear, nose and throat surgery.
