Deoxycholic acid under the brand name Kybella is approved to reduce the accumulated fat cells causing submental fullness, aka 'double chin'. Kybella should not be used outside of the submental area.

Deoxycholic acid causes cytolysis of cells at the site of injection, so killing fat cells which injected correctly under the skin. The compound will kill other cells types if injected into the wrong tissue.
