Summary of Clinical Use
Perindopril is an ACE inhibitor used to treat hypertension, congestive heart failure, post-myocardial infarction and coronary disease.
Perindopril is also a component of Prestalia®, a mixture of perindopril and amlodipine, a drug approved (by the US FDA in 2015) for the treatment of hypertension.
Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects
Converted in the liver to active metabolite perindoprilat. Inhibits the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, which in turn decreases blood pressure. Also causes an increase in plasma renin activity.
