The inhibition of fibrinolysis by aminocaproic acid appears to be principally due to inhibition of plasminogen activators. Aminocaproic acid binds reversibly to the kringle domain of plasminogen, blocking binding of plasminogen to fibrin and its activation to plasmin [1].
