Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects
Pantoprazole irreversibly inhibits the gastric potassium-transporting ATPase, which is composed of two subunits, ATP4A and ATP4B. This proton pump is responsible for secreting H+ ions into the stomach, creating acidic pH.
