Used as a short-acting mydriatic to allow better examination of the lens, vitreous humor, and retina.
Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects
Blocks the muscarinic acetylcholine M3 receptor (CHRM3) in the muscles of the eye which are responsible for controlling pupil size and lens shape. This causes pupil dilation.
