Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects
One of the physiological functions of ehdogenous cholecystokinin (CCK) in the gut is promotion of satiety resulting in suppression of food intake. Activation of the CCK type A receptor by pharmacoligical agonists would be expected to mimic this satiety-inducing effect. This could help reduce food intake in obese patients.
