One of the physiological functions of ehdogenous cholecystokinin (CCK) in the gut is promotion of satiety resulting in suppression of food intake. Activation of the CCK type A receptor by pharmacoligical agonists would be expected to mimic this satiety-inducing effect. This could help reduce food intake in obese patients.
