Synonyms: peptide 14 [2]
Immunopharmacology Ligand
Comment: Cp40 is a 14 amino acid analogue of the cyclic peptide compstatin [3]. Like compstatin, Cp40 is an inhibitor of complement component C3 (C3). C3 inhibitors are being actively investigated for clinical potential in inflammatory and degenerative diseases [1]. Cp40 has shown effective C3 inhibition in C3 glomerulopathy (C3G) in vitro [3]. C3 glomerulopathies are a group of ultra-rare renal diseases caused by uncontrolled activation of the alternative complement pathway, for which there are no disease-specific treatments.
