Like its parent amyloid β_1-16, it is suggested that this small core peptide offers a strategy to combat the neuronal instability caused by oligomeric Aβ1-42 that is mediated via interactions with α7-containing nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR), and to provide a potential disease-modifying option against memory loss in Aβ-associated neurodegenarative disease.
