GtoPdb Ligand ID: 9733

Synonyms: MSI-1436 | MSI1436
Comment: Trodusquemine is a naturally-occurring compound that acts as an allosteric (noncompetitive) inhibitor of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTPN1) [1]. PTPN1 inhibitors are being evaluated for potential anti-type 2 diabetes effects.

Bioactivity Comments
Other proteins inhibited by trodusquemine include the monoamine transporters for dopamine (97%), norepinephrine (89%) and serotonin (26%) [1]. Trodusquemine's inhibition of TCPTP (HGNC gene symbol PTPN2; IC50 224 μM) is approximately two logs less than the effect on PTPN1 activity [1].
