Summary of Clinical Use
Dobutamine is used to improve cardiac function in patients following either myocardial infarction or cardiac surgery.
Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects
Dobutamine stimulates β1-adrenoceptors in the heart. The drug-induced effect is increased myocardial contractility and stroke volume which result in improved cardiac output.
