Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects
Inamrinone increases cAMP and cGMP levels by inhibiting type 3 phosphodiesterases (PDE3A and PDE3B). This increases calcium ion entry into cardiac muscle cells, and increases the force of cardiac contraction (the inotropic effect).
