Immunopharmacology Comments
The oncostatin M receptor (from the OSMR gene) is a type I cytokine receptor. This protein heterodimerizes with the interleukin 6 signal transducer (IL6ST) to form the type II oncostatin M receptor, or with the interleukin 31 receptor α subunit (IL31RA) to form the IL-31 receptor. Germline mutations in OSMR underlie familial primary localized cutaneous amyloidosis [1], a finding that provides further understanding of the roles of oncostatin M and IL-31 in itch pathology.
