Summary of Clinical Use Click here for help
Used as a muscle relaxant to treat muscle spasticity caused by medical problems such as multiple sclerosis (MS), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, aka motor neorone disease), spastic diplegia, spinal cord injury or disease.
Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects Click here for help
Drug action at α2-adrenoceptors increases presynaptic inhibition of motor neurons leading to muscular relaxation. There is evidence from rat studies that the α2B-AR subtype may mediate tizanidine’s spinal analgesic effect [1-2].
