Immunopharmacology Comments
As part of the innate inflammatory response to invading mobile bacteria, NLRC4 (Ipaf) in macrophages induces a pro-inflammatory response upon detection of cytosolic bacterial flagellin. In contrast, extracellular bacterial flagellin is detected by TLR5 [1].
Immuno Process Associations
Immuno Process:  Inflammation
Immuno Process:  Immune regulation
Immuno Process:  Cytokine production & signalling
Physiological Functions Comments
Involved in inflammasome formation and caspase-1 activation. Co-operates with NAIP proteins to form an inflammasome.
