| ACER3 may play a role in inflammation, since it is reported that loss of Acer3 in mice aggravates colitis and colitis-associated colorectal cancer [1]. This effect is thought to be the result of accumulation of the ACER3 substrate C18:1-ceramide, which potentiates LPS-induced production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in mouse immune cells. |
