General Comments |
Protein 7b is a coronavirus accessory protein. It is a single-pass transmembrane protein. Investigations using a naturally occurring variant of SARS-CoV with a deletion in protein 7b (Frankfurt-1 strain) suggests that 7b has some attenuating function during the early phase of infection [1]. The deletion variant conferred increased virulence but did not alter infection capacity. By homology, SARS-CoV-2 7b is likely to have a similar function. |
