Synonyms: 13R,14S-diHDHA | 13R,14S-dihydroxy-docosahexaenoic acid | MaR2 | maresin-2
Compound class:
Synthetic organic
Comment: Maresins are anti-inflammatory and pro-resolving lipid mediators that are biosynthesised from docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) by macrophages, via conversions that are catalysed by12-LOX and soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH). Maresin 2 was identified in 2014 [1].

Immunopharmacology Comments |
Maresin 2, is a member of a family of DHA-derived omega-3 fatty acids that have anti-inflammatory and pro-resolving actions in human disease. It acts through a variety of signalling pathways, that contribute to its analgesic and pro-resolving effects in mouse models of induced pain/inflammation [2]. In these models maresin 2 inhibits neutrophil and monocyte recruitment and it reduces TRPV1 and TRPA1 activation and CGRP release in sensory (dorsal root ganglion) neurons. |
