GtoPdb Ligand ID: 13522

Immunopharmacology Ligand
Compound class: Natural product
Comment: Oroxylin A is an active phytochemical that can be isolated from the Chinese herb Huang-Chi (Astragalus mongholicus; Mongolian milkvetch in English) and other herbal plants such as Scutellaria baicalensis. It has demonstrated anti-inflammatory [3,6-7,9], anti-infection [2,8] and anti-tumour activities [10] in experimental models, which suggests therapeutic potential in human diseases [5].

Immunopharmacology Comments
Anti-inflammatory action has been reported in in a range of inflammation models [3,7,9]. In psoriasis models oroxylin A is reported to disrupt the PKCζ-p62 (sequestosome 1, autophagy receptor) interaction in macrophages, which results in inhibition of NF-κB signalling and M1 macrophage activation.
