Comment: MBX-4132 is an antibacterial with a novel mechanism of action, inhibiting trans-translation by binding to a unique site near the peptidyl-transfer center and altering the conformation of ribosomal protein bL27 [1-2]. It has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, Mycobacterium spp., and some Gram-negative bacteria.
