Comment: LB10517 is a parenteral cephalosporin antibacterial with broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria [2]. Chemically, it is a catechol-conjugated siderophore cephalosporin, a class of antibacterial compounds designed to exploit siderophore-dependent pathways of bacterial iron uptake to improve delivery of antimicrobial agents across the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria [1].

| Bioactivity Comments |
| LB10517 has potent in vitro activity against a wide range of Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginos (MIC90 range 0.063->2 μg/ml) [2]. The compound demonstrates activity against Gram-positive bacteria such as methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA, MIC90 = 0.25 μg/ml), but is inactive against others, including methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) [2]. In addition, it is highly stable to hydrolysis by clinically important β-lactamases [2]. |
