Comment: Crisantaspase is a chemotherapy agent. The asparaginase enzyme can be isolated from Erwinia chrysanthemi or Escherichia coli. The two forms have different immunogenicity profiles. The amino acid sequence shown here is for the Erwina isoform, crisantaspase.

Summary of Clinical Use  |
| Used to treat acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and some mast cells tumours [1]. The European Medicines Agency have delivered positive opinions on the use of several asparaginase formulations for the treatment of rare diseases. | Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects |
| Some cancer cells are unable to synthesise the amino acid asparagine. Use of asparaginase effectively starves tumour cells of asparagine leading to cell death, whilst normal cells continue to produce their own asparagine and survive. |
