Immunopharmacology Comments
LAIR1 has been identified as a potential molecular receptor for Plasmodium falciparum-coded proteins that are expressed by infected host erythrocytes. Interaction of these parasite RIFIN proteins (encoded by rif genes) and inhibitory leucocyte receptors such as LAIR1 may mediate parasite-driven evasion of the host's immune system [1].

General Comments
LAIR1 (CD305) is an inhibitory receptor found on peripheral mononuclear cells, including natural killer cells, T cells, and B cells.
