Bioactivity Comments
The oxazolidinone class of antibacterials inhibit protein synthesis by blocking function of the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit. Ranbezolid has been shown to specifically inhibit the bacterial ribosome with an IC50 of 20 μM [2]. The MIC for antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus 562 is 1 μg/ml in vitro [1].
