Clinical development in humans was terminated due to the frequency of side effects caused by this drug which included appetite disorders, CNS disorders, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, insomnia, nausea, vision disorders and vomiting. Difloxacin is authorised for use in veterinary medicine to treat infections in dogs.
