Cefuroxime can be administered orally ot parenterally. It is indicated for community acquired pneumonia, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, complicated urinary tract infections (including pyelonephritis), soft-tissue infections (cellulitis, erysipelas and wound infections), intra-abdominal infections, and as prophylaxis against infection in gastrointestinal, orthopaedic, cardiovascular, and gynaecological surgeries. Cefuroxime can be used to treat Lyme disease.
