FDA approval indicates streptomycin as a treatment for moderate to severe tuberculosis, pneumonia, E. coli, plague and other infections caused by susceptible bacteria. For active tuberculosis it is often given together with isoniazid, rifampicin, and pyrazinamide. Streptomycin is administered i.v. or i.m..
