Summary of Clinical Use
Thyrotropin alfa is used to promote the uptake of iodine for more effective radioactive iodine ablation treatment of some thyroid cancers. May also be used as hormone replacement therapy.
Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects
Thyrotropin alfa binds to TSH receptors found on normal thyroid epithelial cells or on well-differentiated thyroid cancer tissue.
