Used in the treatment of heart block, asthma and chronic bronchitis. There is no information regarding approval for medical use of isoprenaline on the US FDA or on the European Medicines Agency (EMA) websites. Individual national agencies may have granted marketing approval.
Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects Click here for help
Agonism of β-adrenoceptors, leads to stimulation of intracellular adenyl cyclase, and increased levels of cyclic AMP. This results in relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle and the inhibition of hypersensitivity mediator release from mast cells.
