Summary of Clinical Use
Metabolic product of the prodrug trandolapril, an ACE inhibitor for mild to moderate hypertension, improved survival following myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, and to slow renal disease.
Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects
Inhibits the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, which in turn decreases blood pressure. Also causes an increase in plasma renin activity.
