Comment: Bococizumab is an experimental monoclonal antibody directed against PCSK9 [1]. Anti-PCSK9 antibodies are under intense clinical lead scrutiny, as the successors to statins for the treatment of hyperlipidemia and associated atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. | Bococizumab is being evaluated in various Phase 3 clinical trials, in different patient groups: In subjects intolerant to statins (NCT02135029), patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (NCT01968980), primary hyperlipidemia or mixed dyslipidemia at risk of cardiovascular events (NCT02100514), and other groups at high risk from cardiovascular disease. |
