| IFN-β is produced in large quantities by fibroblasts. It binds the IFN-α/β receptor (IFNAR), a dimeric receptor that consists of protein chains encoded by the IFNAR1 and IFNAR2 genes, and induces expression of proteins containing ISRE or GAS transcription elements. It is a potent modulator of the immune response to viral infection. |
