PHT2 has not been analyzed systematically with respect to driving force, mode of transport, and substrate specificity. The pH dependence observed for transport of histidine [2] and the model peptides used, i.e., carnosine [2] and histidyl-leucine [2], suggest a similar mode of operation as PEPT1 and PEPT2 proteins.

Immunopharmacology Comments
SLC15A3 and SLC15A4 are preferentially expressed by cells within the lymphatic system, including dendritic cells. Expression of these two genes is upregulated in response to TLR stimulation [1,3]. There is some experimental evidence which suggests that SLC15A3 plays an important role in regulating TLR4-mediated inflammatory responses [3].
